‘The President is in good health and physically active’: White House says Biden will have a physical in the ‘coming months’ after his 80th birthday – but won’t confirm if it will come before a 2024 announcement

The White House on Tuesday vouched for President Joe Biden‘s continued health, and said the president would get his second physical as president in the ‘coming months.’
White House Press Secretary provided a brief snippet of information from White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, but indicated Biden, who turned 80 on Sunday, won’t be getting his annual physical immediately.
‘So the President is in good health and maintains an active lifestyle. That is from the doctor – he shared that with me,’ White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Tuesday when asked about Biden’s health following the milestone.
‘He will have a physical in the upcoming months and the results will be released in the same way that it was last year,’ she said.

She spoke after Biden became the first White House octogenarian.
The White House on November 19 last year released a six-page letter from O’Connor providing details of Biden’s medical condition, calling him ‘fit for duty.’
That report also noted Biden had been experiencing an increase in throat-clearing attributed to acid reflux, and more issues with his ‘ambulatory gait.’
Since that time, O’Connor has provided updates as the president worked through relatively mild symptoms when contracting COVID-19 and experiencing a rebound case.
But this year’s physical appears to be on a slightly slower track. The president just returned from a week in Asia, and

Jean-Pierre took a follow-up question on whether Biden would release the information before he makes his future political plans known. Biden said this month ‘our intention is to run again,’ without committing yet to a run for reelection.
‘I don’t have a timeline for you. We are going to provide the information just as currently, as we did last last year, this time around as well. And it will be happening in the next couple of months,’ Jean-Pierre added.
